Perceptions of Resources in NRV

Recovery During a Crisis Project Findings

Involvement in Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, and the Drug Courts were common among interviewees in recovery. When asked about useful existing programs in recovery, Drug Courts and the 401 Peer center were mentioned frequently. An interview quote from a person working with those in recovery stated that “401 Peer Center was a space provided as a resource to people who consider themselves in recovery or even if they're still actively using, or experiencing homelessness.” However, when a person working with those in recovery was asked about ineffective or counterproductive programs in the NRV, it was said that  “the problem is only 20 people get to be in that drug court program in each one of those localities or counties. And so that’s only 20, there are thousands and thousands of people suffering with substance abuse.” These responses indicated the need for more resources within the recovery community.
